NORWOOD ROAD BRIDGE, MARCH

This must be the one Fenland location known to almost everyone. Standing astride the northern apex of the Whitemoor triangle, about 5 minutes walk from the station, this is virtually the only location available to the public that overlooks the new Whitemoor Yard. The yard boasts two pilots, currently HNRC 08 818 and 08 936. They are busy during the week but only rarely used at weekends. All traffic to and from Whitemoor goes beneath it and all traffic through the station may also be observed, if somewhat distantly. Those of my generation may find a visit a rather strange experience as so little remains of the colossus that stood there before.
