BIELD DROVE AHB

Bield Drove (or Beald Drove, as the Railway would have it be!) is a farm track in Little Downham, just west of the A10 Ely Bypass. Quite why there is an AHB on an unmetalled farm road is a mystery to me. I sat there from 1130 until 1800 and saw the same man on the same tractor 3 times, a bloke on a bike and drunken pedestrian who, on navigating his tortuous way over the crossing, promptly turned round and went back! The journey down to the ahb was murder on the Great White Whale and the suspension took a right hammering - the track is so rough that in one place they've bypassed it with one that's even worse! Only to be attempted in dry weather. Mind you, if you crave isolation, this really is the middle of nowhere.
