THE WASH BRIDGES

This spot is at the extreme eastern end of the eastern bridge over the Welney Washes. The eastbound shot is excellent as it overlooks the bridges but the westbound shot is not so good with only a couple of gaps in the shrubbery to catch locos in. The road bridge is very nice though. If you think these pictures look a bit odd, thats because the water level in the Washes is about 12 feet higher than the level of the road! Hence, you can barely walk under the railway bridge on one side and have a 14 foot headroom road bridge on the other side of the bank!
